1. Information We Collect

To provide our service, we collect the following information when you claim a machine:

• Your Name: To identify who is using a machine.
• Email Address: To send notifications when your laundry cycle is about to finish or has been "nudged" by another user.
• Instagram Handle (Optional): To provide an alternative contact method for other users if they need to reach you.
• 4-Digit PIN: To allow you to manage your claiming of a machine (e.g., add time or mark it as finished). This PIN is associated with your claiming and is not stored long-term.

2. How We Use Your Information

Your information is used exclusively to operate the UniWash service:

• To display your name on an "in-use" machine so others know it is occupied.
• To send automated email notifications.
• To allow other users to contact you after sending a "nudge" if your laundry is finished but still in the machine.
• To authenticate you when you wish to edit your active claim.

3. Data Storage and Security

Your claiming information (name, email, Instagram handle) is stored in our secure database only for the duration of your laundry cycle. Once the cycle is marked as "finished" or "available," this personal information is cleared from the active machine record. As this is a beta service, we implement reasonable security measures but cannot guarantee absolute security.

4. Data Sharing

We do not share, sell, or rent your personal information with third-party companies for marketing purposes. Your contact details (email and optional Instagram) will only be revealed to another user if they use the "Nudge" feature on a machine you have used after its cycle has completed.

We may update this Privacy Policy as the service evolves. Any changes will be reflected on this page.
